The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal has struck a teacher off the register after she was found guilty of serious misconduct involving numerous instances of physical and verbal abuse of children.  These included grabbing, pulling, lifting, dragging and shouting at children.  She was also found to have falsified records regarding children’s care and to have abused other staff verbally.

The Tribunal held that no penalty short of striking off would adequately punish the offences in this case as the teacher had not demonstrated any insight into her behaviour or remorse nor taken any rehabilitative steps.  The Tribunal could not be satisfied as to child safety if the teacher was allowed to continue working in the profession.
