The Teachers’ Disciplinary Tribunal has found serious misconduct after being referred a teacher convicted of his fourth drink driving offence.

The teacher could not satisfy the Tribunal that he appreciated the seriousness of his offending, or that he had taken steps to prevent future offending.

Just because the offending was outside of school time does not prevent the Tribunal deregistering as the offending reflected badly on the teaching profession and the teacher’s position as a role model.
