Employer ordered to pay $45,000 after worker injured

An employer that failed to have safety measures in place to protect its employees was fined $37,000 and ordered to pay reparation of $8,100 in the District Court.

An investigation by the Department of Labour had found no measures in existence to protect employees from the hazards.

Whatever your industry or profession you must identify hazards and take all practicable steps to eliminate, isolate or minimise them.
