Employer fined over $8,600 for potentially exposing children to asbestos…
An employer has breached Health and Safety legislation after one of its employees broke up cladding containing asbestos at a primary school. In doing so, the employee potentially exposed himself and others to asbestos fibres.
The employer failed to properly train and supervise its employees. As a result, the employee breached asbestos regulations and best practice guidelines by not correctly disposing of the asbestos cladding.
The District Court sentenced and fined the employer over $8,600.
