Partner Alan Knowsley attended the ANZ Post Budget breakfast on 22 May with the Minister of Finance Bill English. Mr English outlined the reasons why certain areas were targeted in the budget (especially extra benefit support and changes to low income tax relief) and the expected financial situation for the country over the next few years. Alan spoke with the Minister about the KiwiSaver scheme and whether the Government would make any changes to prevent employers making employees pay the employer contribution to KiwiSaver. Mr English advised that they would not be taking any steps to prevent employers from doing this.

ANZ Chief Economist Cameron Bagrie also spoke and outlined his case for the Reserve Bank to lower the official cash rate and also his 12 key points for driving regional development around the country.
