A teacher charged with several instances of minor physical disciplining of children between 2006 and 2011 has escaped deregistration.  The Teachers’ Disciplinary Tribunal has instead ordered her to undergo an anger management course approved by the Council and a classroom management course.

The teacher was supported by the school principal who felt she had learnt her lesson and would be able to change her behaviour.

Interestingly one of the charges related to after the school had rehired the teacher following a disciplinary process.  Let us hope that the education of the teacher has a lasting effect.
