The Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal has censured a nurse and imposed conditions on her practice for 12 months after she was found to have known about over $2 million in misappropriated funds from a rest home.  The funds were diverted for the benefit of herself and her family but not by the nurse.  The funds were diverted by the nurse’s husband.

The Tribunal ordered that the nurse be supervised by a supervisor approved by the New Zealand Nurses Council for 12 months with the supervisor reporting to the Nursing Council every three months.  The nurse is also to attend an approved course on ethics and to pay $31,000 towards the cost of the hearing.
