David has been in practice as a family lawyer since 2005.

He is an Associate at Rainey Collins and has extensive knowledge in all areas of family law, including relationship property, care of children, guardianship, domestic violence, proceedings under the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act regarding vulnerable people, paternity, adoption, Hague convention proceedings and estate issues.

He acts both for parties in proceedings and accepts appointments from the Family Court to act for children or vulnerable people.

David has a wealth of experience representing clients in the courtroom, but where possible seeks to find solutions with his clients which avoid unnecessary litigation.  In his experience parties are more satisfied in the long term with agreements they have reached themselves with the right assistance, rather than a decision imposed on them by the Court.

During his time before joining Rainey Collins David worked in Taranaki, and has been a board member of the Taranaki Community Law Trust, and volunteered with the Citizen's Advice Bureau and Community Law. He has presented seminars for the public in regards to various family law matters.

David has a young family and is an avid cricket fan (although with the arrival of his children his playing days are over, at least for now). Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family and, when there is no cricket on, can often be found buried in a book or gaming.
