A teacher has been found guilty by jury trial of 4 charges of dishonesty using a document. The teacher submitted false forms to the Ministry of Education in order to obtain a government subsidy for two childcare centres she operated. The teacher fabricated attendance figures for children at the Centre, teacher ratios, and the ratios of under-2s to over-2s. Consequently, the teacher illegitimately received $327,000, and was thus sentenced to three years imprisonment.

The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal censured the teacher, and not surprisingly ordered her registration to be cancelled.
