A teacher has been convicted in the District Court after he pleaded guilty to 25 charges of possessing objectionable material, in breach of the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993.

The teacher had over 70,000 images of child pornography stored on his school computer.

The teacher was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment by the District Court and was referred to the Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal. The Tribunal found that the conviction was so serious to warrant an adverse finding.

The Tribunal censured the teacher and ordered the cancellation of his teacher’s registration.
