Teacher’s registration cancelled after accessing pornography during class time…

A teacher has been charged with serious misconduct by the Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal after accessing pornographic websites on his school laptop, during class time, and in the presence of students. Analysis of the teacher’s laptop showed that he had accessed the material over 100 times for a period in excess of a year.

The teacher has also been convicted in the District Court for masturbating in the classroom. He has since been sentenced to 9 months supervision and ordered to complete 80 hours of community work.

The teacher had previously come before the Teacher’s Council in 2000 on similar charges.

The Tribunal censured the teacher and cancelled his registration.
