The Teachers’ Disciplinary Tribunal was referred convictions of a teacher for importing methamphetamine. The teacher had been sentenced to over eight years imprisonment with a non-parole period of four years.
The Tribunal held that despite some mitigating circumstances there was no real alternative but to say that the teacher should not return to the profession on her release and so should be deregistered.
