Partner Alan Knowsley recently attended the National conference of the NZ Lions Organisation held in Christchurch. Alan is the honorary Legal Counsel for the Association of Lions Clubs and was advising the NZ Council of Governors on remits at the AGM.  During the conference the delegates heard from many interesting speakers from around New Zealand and Australia.  The motivational speaker was William Pike who as a 22 year old lost his right leg due to the Mt Ruapehu eruption.  William has set up the William Pike Challenge to get 11-12 year old kids into the outdoors and also into sports and hobbies.  Great to hear how he has not only overcome adversity but set out to help the youth of today become great members of the community.  William’s website is www.williampike.co.nz

It was also great to see Christchurch recovering from the earthquakes and to help their economy with a bit of shopping in the new container mall.

If you would like to know how you can help your community be the place you want it to be check out the Lions website at www.lionsclubs.org.nz or contact Alan on aknowsley@raineycollins.co.nz
