Principal hits pupil in front of classmates...
A principal who lashed out at a 14 year old student in front of his classmates has been censured for serious misconduct by the Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal.
The principal was granted a discharge without conviction in the Auckland District Court after he admitted to hitting the boy after he swore at his wife, who was then a teacher at the school. The Court noted that the principal had undergone counseling, and had received several glowing references for his work.
The Tribunal ruled that the principal’s conduct did not warrant deregistration. The principal deeply regrets the incident, and has shown remorse. The assault now threatens to close his school, and has forced his teenage sons to leave their Auckland home and attend a different school in another city.
