Chief District Court Judge Farewelled
Chief District Court Judge David Carruthers was farewelled at a special sitting held on Friday 18 March 2005.
In addressing the packed Courtroom, Rainey Collins Chairman of Partners, James Johnston, thanked the Judge for his outstanding contribution as a Judge over the last 20 years.
Mr Johnston referred to His Honour’s leadership qualities and thanked him for his fine contribution to the District Court. The audience, which included Chief Justice Sian Elias, members of the Supreme Court bench, the Court of Appeal and High Court were treated to some excellent presentations including a farewell speech from Judge Carruthers which, true to form, contained examples of Judge Carruthers fabulous sense of humour.
The new Chief District Court Judge is Russell Johnson who will move to Wellington from Auckland to take up his new role.
