Chairman Thanks Governor General
Rainey Collins Chairman James Johnston took great pleasure in thanking Their Excellencies Governor General Anand Satyanand and Mrs Susan Satyanand for hosting the inaugural New Zealand Law Foundation International Research Fellowship dinner at Government House recently. The dinner was attended by a number of dignitaries from throughout New Zealand, including Madam Speaker, the Honourable Margaret Wilson, senior members of the Judiciary, the President of the Law Commission Sir Jeffrey Palmer and the Solicitor General Dr David Collins.
James Johnston, who is also the Chairman of the New Zealand Law Foundation spoke of the work done by the Foundation including that the Foundation had made combined grants in the vicinity of $12.5 million in order to achieve its purpose of independently promoting legal research and dissemination of legal knowledge that benefits all New Zealanders.
The 2006 Fellowship awarded by His Excellency was won by Associate Professor Geoffrey McLay of Victoria University.
