Anybody who uses email on a regular basis knows how annoying spam (unsolicited junk email) can be.

New Zealand has no law prohibiting the sending of spam. However, that looks set to change as the Ministry of Economic Development has released a discussion document on a proposed anti-spam law.

The paper is available on line at www.med.govt.nz

InternetNZ is holding a one-day workshop to discuss the various legal options and to try and ensure that any anti-spam law is as effective and useful as possible. The free workshop will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Wellington on Thursday, 24 June 2004. If you are interested in the workshop, you can check the details on the website www.internetnz.net.nz

If you wish to make submissions to the Ministry of Economic Development on the proposed anti-spam legislation, you need to do this by 30 June 2004.
