Rainey Collins was delighted to host an evening with Ropata Taylor, General Manager of Wakatu Incorporation, recently in Wellington.

Mr Taylor spoke on the history of the Incorporation and opportunities for business, both in New Zealand and on the global stage.

Wakatu Incorporation is one of the largest Maori-owned incorporations in New Zealand and has a diverse and extensive commercial portfolio in carefully chosen areas including seafood, property, horticulture, viticulture, forestry and tourism.  These areas are selected based on fit with Wakatu’s ethos of maintaining both their commercial expertise and their Maori identity, as well as connection with their whenua in Te Tau Ihu.

Attendees were also able to enjoy samples of some of Wakatu’s award-winning produce – selections from the range of Tohu wines.

The evening brought together leaders of the Wellington Maori business community and members of Te Awe, Wellington’s Maori Business Network.
