There will be fewer public holidays in 2011 than an ordinary year, due to some quirks in the calendar.

Firstly, Waitangi Day falls on a Sunday (6 Feb).  Waitangi day is not transferred to the next Monday like Christmas, and some other holidays, so those who do not work on Sundays will not be entitled to a paid public holiday for Waitangi Day in 2011.

Secondly, ANZAC Day and Easter Monday fall on the same day in 2011 (25 April.)  When two or more public holidays fall on the same day, they are treated as one day.  Employees will, therefore, get paid for only one public holiday on 25 April.
