Restaurant ordered to hand over video recording…
The Privacy Commissioner has upheld a complaint for breach of privacy after people visiting a restaurant requested to be provided with footage from the restaurant’s video cameras and the restaurant refused.
The restaurant claimed that other people could be seen in the videos and it would be a breach of their privacy to hand over a copy of the video recordings.
The Privacy Commissioner viewed the footage and decided it would not be a breach of privacy to hand over the video recordings. The restaurant finally handed over the copies to the family in accordance with the Privacy Commissioner’s ruling.
