The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal has found a principal of a school guilty of serious misconduct and struck him off over several incidences of sleeping naked in the same bed as a student on a school trip.

The Tribunal described the principal’s actions as despicable and that they brought disrepute to the teaching profession.

The incidents occurred on a school trip in Central America when the students were out of contact of their parents because they were not allowed to take phones or other electronic devices on the trip.  The Tribunal said that sharing a bed with a student, especially naked, was totally inappropriate and that despite a shortage of accommodation other arrangements should have been made.
