The Licensed Building Practitioners Board has found a builder guilty of negligence and incompetence because of the way he failed to adequately supervise others doing building work.  There were numerous issues for the building work done, for example, framing was poorly constructed, door openings were not correctly framed and brace panels were incorrectly constructed.  Floor levels were not adequately dealt with, a roof beam was not correctly constructed and borer infestations were not dealt with properly.

The failure to properly supervise by the licensed building practitioner resulted in him being fined $3,500 and having to pay costs of $2,000.

Licensed building practitioners are not just liable for the work they do themselves, but also for all work that they supervise as the licensed building practitioner.  That supervision must be carried out competently.
