The Insurance Ombudsman has held that an insurer’s offer needed to be increased to represent a fair outcome for the repairs required to a house.  A shower mixer had failed causing a flood and damage to the kitchen cabinetry and floor.

The Ombudsman found that the insurer had failed to include all required repair work in its settlement proposals and the insurer should pay 50% of the difference between the insurer’s quote and the home owner’s quote.
