The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal has cancelled the registration of a teacher convicted of doing an indecent act in a public place.

The teacher was seen by two young women with his hand on his erect penis (which was out of his clothing) at a library. He was convicted in the District Court and his conviction was referred to the Teaching Council. The Disciplinary Tribunal found that the teacher had no or limited insight into his offending and had denied or tried to minimise it. It found that there was no alternative to cancelling his registration.
