The Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal has cancelled the registration of a chiropractor after he was convicted of five counts of indecent assault against five female patients.

His practitioner’s registration was cancelled after he inappropriately touched patients during appointments. He admitted to pretending the indecent touching was a part of treatment. The victims all suffered a degree of mental harm as a result of the incidents.

The Tribunal found that the sexual transgressions were a serious breach of trust between patient and practitioner, and a breach of the Code of Ethics. The practitioner was barred from registration for 2 years, censured, and ordered to undergo a course on ethics including as to sexual behaviours and appropriate physical boundaries.
