Worksafe issues notice to school...
A school in the Waikato has been given an improvement notice under the Health and Safety at Work Act by Worksafe.
The notice requires the school to put in place procedures to ensure its staff’s psychological safety. Worksafe found that the school had breached the Health and Safety requirements by not managing psychological risk properly. Two teachers were the subject of rumours about alleged false documents and the school failed to prevent psychological harm from those rumours.
The school has publicly apologised for the rumours and stated that there is no truth to them.
A limited statutory manager has been appointed by the Ministry of Education to help the school with its governance processes.
