The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal has found a teacher guilty of serious misconduct for attempting to force feed a child in an early education setting.

There were 17 attempts to get the child to eat including putting food in the child’s mouth when it was crying and holding the child to prevent it turning its head away.  All of those actions were caught on the security camera footage.

The Tribunal held that the teacher’s actions have no place in an education environment and brought disrepute on the profession.

The teacher was censured and ordered to undergo further training, as well as being mentored for 12 months and having no unsupervised contact with children or management roles for 12 months.  She was also ordered to advise any prospective employers of the Tribunal findings for 12 months.
