During the pandemic, a temporary amendment to the Unit Titles Act (under the Epidemic Preparedness (COVID-19) Notice 2020) permitted members of a Body Corporate to attend Body Corporate meetings remotely via audio-visual link, even if this was not provided for in their operational rules.

That notice has now expired and there is no indication that it will be renewed at this time.

A permanent amendment to the Unit Titles Act was recently passed which allows meetings to be conducted via audio-visual link. This amendment comes into force on 9 December 2022.

If your rules specifically prohibit meetings via audio-visual link, we recommend you take legal advice on this issue if you were planning to hold a meeting via audio-visual link before 9 December 2022.
