$138,000 penalties following employee death
An electrical contracting company has been convicted and fined $43,000 plus $95,000 reparation was ordered after one of its apprentices was fatally electrocuted at work.
The company had failed to ensure its employees only carried out work they were trained to do and that they held the appropriate certificates.
The employer also failed to ensure its supervisor identified a safe work area for the employee and communicated that to the apprentice.
