FREE Webinar: The New Incorporated Societies Act

The long-anticipated changes to the Incorporated Societies Act have been made.  The Incorporated Societies Act 2022 aims to provide a modern framework for governance and accountability for Societies and for the officers that run them.  The changes will take effect in stages.

In this webinar, Commercial Partner Claire Tyler will take you through the key parts of the Act, and how they will apply to you if you are an officer or member of a Society.

The Act:

  • Requires all societies to re-register under the new regime
  • Clearly outlines duties of officers of Societies
  • Requires certain matters to be included in constitutions of Societies
  • Includes a framework whereby court action can be taken to recover a financial gain unlawfully received by an officer or member
  • Includes duties to disclose conflicts of interest of officers

It also expands on many of the existing principles, such as not being able to make a financial gain as a member or officer of a Society.
