Rowan Anderson

Rowan is a Senior Associate in Rainey Collins’ Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, specialising in employment law and civil litigation.

He has practised law in both New Zealand and Australia and brings significant adjudication, advisory, and advocacy experience to his work with clients.

Before joining Rainey Collins, Rowan was an appointed Member of New Zealand’s employment tribunal, the Employment Relations Authority, where he served for almost four years.

His experience includes:

  • Investigating hundreds of employment relationship problems as a Member of the Employment Relations Authority and issuing over 130 written determinations.
  • Advising and representing clients in personal grievances, dismissal and reinstatement claims, discrimination matters, and contractual disputes.
  • Representing and advising trade unions in major public inquiries relating to health and safety, including a Royal Commission in New Zealand and a Board of Inquiry established by the Queensland Government in Australia, and in significant industrial disputes.

Rowan’s adjudication background gives him a practical understanding of how employment disputes are assessed and resolved. He advises on all aspects of employment law, including workplace compliance, workplace investigations, and personal grievances.

He also represents clients in mediation, the Employment Relations Authority, the Employment Court, and civil claims before other courts and tribunals.
