Rainey Collins is delighted to announce that the firm has now been accepted as a LINZ Accredited Supplier. Three lawyers from the practice have also been individually accredited to carry out this work.  To achieve this status, the firm and the lawyers involved have been through a detailed evaluation process.

Achieving LINZ accreditation means that Rainey Collins can now provide advice on a range of Crown Property work on behalf of Land Information New Zealand (LINZ).  This is the government department which regulates Crown and private property rights in New Zealand.

The purpose of accreditation is to ensure that work done by Accredited Suppliers meets the standards set out in the Crown Property standards and guidelines.  These standards set out requirements for the acquisition, management and disposal of Crown property under a number of statutes, hence the stringent evaluation process.

Peter Johnston, Dr Bryan Gilling and Campbell Duncan from the Maori Issues Team have been approved in the specific areas of Te Ture Whenua Maori Act 1993 and Treaty of Waitangi Claim Settlements.

LINZ takes its Maori name, Toitu te Whenua from the proverb Whatungarongaro te tangata toitu te whenua: “People pass on, but land remains”.  Managing the land is a major part of what LINZ does.

Rainey Collins is proud of it 90 year history of assisting clients with their legal needs and specifically in relation to land matters and is looking forward to working on Crown related land matters in the future.
