The long awaited changes to Residential Tenancies law are expected to come into effect on 1 October 2010 following the third reading of the Bill in Parliament. The key changes include:
- Extending the law to apply to boarding houses
- Clarifying the process for terminating a tenancy due to non-payment of rent
- Increasing the monetary limit of the Disputes Tribunal so most tenancy matters can be resolved
