Kirsten Ferguson
Special Expertise
Kirsten is an Associate of Rainey Collins in the Commercial Team. She has extensive experience in business and government-related areas. Her particular areas of specialty include Contracting, Governance and Management, Intellectual Property, Public law, interfacing with Government, Franchising and Competition law.
Before joining the firm, she spent five years in the public sector where she acquired much valuable government/public law and contracting experience, as well as extensive knowledge of various dispute resolution processes.
She was also employed at the Chief Judges Chambers for three years providing legal advice to the Chief District Court Judge and other members of the Judiciary and judicial officers.
Background
Kirsten was born and raised in Wellington. She has a first class Law Honours degree, and an Arts Honours degree with English and Art History majors, from Victoria University. She is a current member of the Wellington District Law Society Public Law Committee and NZ Centre for Public Law.
Interests
Kirsten is a former New Zealand champion highland dancer, and is still actively involved in international, national and local dancing bodies, including as legal advisor to ScotDance NZ, the national body. She is married and has three young children. She enjoys recreational running and yoga when time permits, and is currently learning to play the guitar.
